Our featured product of the week is elderberry syrup. Black elderberries have a rich history in herbal medicine and elderberry syrup is a must-have in any natural cold and flu medicine. Their cold and flu magic comes from the berry's high concentration of vitamin C, dietary fiber, phenolic acids and flavanols (antioxidants), as well as anthocyanins which give the berry a beautiful purple color and anti-inflammatory properties. We have beautiful, fresh dried elderberries as well as raw, local honey to give the syrup the best effect and of course the best taste. Elderberry syrup is good for children and adults as it has a sweet taste and incredible benefits. You can make it with love in your own kitchen using this simple recipe:
1/2 cup of 4 ounces of dried elderberries
3 cups of water
1 cup of raw honey
Place berries in a saucepan and cover them with 3 cups of water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 30 minutes. Smash up the berries. Strain through a mesh strainer. Add the honey and stir. Bottle and store in the refrigerator. (It will last up to two months in the fridge).
